Mathias Mpuuga Unveils ‘The Democratic Alliance,’ Promises New Dawn

Former Leader of Opposition in Parliament Mathias Mpuuga has announced the formation of a new politica group, The Democratic Alliance.

Claiming that the biggest opposition political party, Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine’s National Unity Platform (NUP) was in slumber, Mpuuga said he would shake things up and compel Museveni to give up power.

Mpuuga wondered why Bobi Wine’s NUP were reportedly mobilizing for music concerts yet veteran opposition leader Dr Kizza Besigye is in prison for charges related to undermining national security and possession of firearms.

Mpuuga said The Democratic Alliance would front candidates in elections, and that he had accepted to offer leadership for a united opposition keen on removing Museveni.

Addressing hundreds of his supporters at Malibu Gardens in Bakuli, Kampala, Mpuuga told his enemies to stop rapping him and punching holes in his ability to defeat Museveni and lead Uganda to sit down and watch him do what they have failed to do.

He also observed that the opposition has failed to remove Museveni for nearly four decades. The 49-year-old agreed that there was no light at the end of the tunnel in the efforts to end the Museveni regime.

To him, it was now time to wake up from slumber and seriously challenge 80-year-old Museveni, and that such a fight would require someone of his capabilities and political experience.

Mpuuga how hopes to lead his friends to form a new political party ahead of 2026 presidential, parliamentary and local council elections, with him expected to be presidential candidate.

Ahead of Mpuuga’s big announcement, a former leader of opposition said Mpuuga should not waste Ugandans ‘time, that he will be embarrassed and can only become president of Masaka, as reported Here.
