CROSSFIRE: ‘Sorry for You, Bitter Old Man,’ Mpuuga Fires Back at Ogenga Latigo

The Democratic Alliance principal Mathias Mpuuga has fired back at former Leader of Opposition in Parliament Morris Ogenga Latigo over his statements pouring cold water on his new political vehicle.

Last week, Mpuuga unveiled the Democratic Alliance which he hopes to use to unite the opposition in Uganda to end President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s rule.

Ahead of the launch of The Democratic Alliance at Malibu Gardens in Kampala, Ogenga Latigo had said Mpuuga’s political move was a waste of time and one that would earn him embarrassment.

Now Mpuuga has fired back at Ogenga Latigo accusing him of bitterness that he said he had failed to understand.

Mpuuga said the statement by Ogenga Latigo was “absurd” and that he “felt sorry for the old man.” In his view, Ogenga Latigo sounded rather “insipid and bitter.”

He said he didn’t know why Latigo is a bitter man because he has not met him to ask him the source of his bitterness.

In Parliament for many terms, Ogenga Latigo served as the leader of opposition in Parliament for five years. Mpuuga served for half that time in the capacity of leader of opposition in Parliament.

He says this is not the first time Mpuuga was seeing him speaking about him with bitterness whose source he cannot understand.

He went on to say that Ogenga Latigo suffered bigotry he thought might be difficult to rid him of at his age.

In a hard hitting interview, Ogenga Latigo told Mpuuga not to waste Ugandans’ time, saying he can only become president of Masaka or get the embarrassment of his life, as reported Here.

The following day, Mpuuga unveileedthe Democratic Alliance and promised a new dawn. But his coalition was quickly labelled an Alliance of Thieves as an ally, singer Alien Skin, ‘joked’ that he wanted to improve his stealing skill from Mpuuga, who faces a Shs500m stain in the public court, as reported Here and There.
