Former police chief (Inspector General of Police) Gen Kale Kayihura has distanced himself from the murder, in 2015, of state prosecutor Joan Kagezi.
Recently, former Kayihura ally SSP Nixon Agasirwe, a former Police Special Operations Commander, was arrested in connection with the murder of Joan Kagezi.

The arrest came after key prosecution witness Daniel Kisekka Kiwanuka revealed to the International Crimes Division of the High Court that a man named “Nick” gave him and others orders to kill Kagezi.
Daniek Kisekka was a deserter of the UPDF by the time of his arrest.
Since the arrest of Agasirwe, some had started linking Gen Kayihura to the murder of Joan Kagezi. But he came out and defended himself, calling those making the allegations as propagandists and evil people.
“Joan Kagezi was attached to us as a principal legal advisor because our investigations were prosecution-led, and her murder was a big shock to us, especially to me, as I was close to her,” Kayihura told NBS Faceoff
He further said he was a close friend of the Kagezi family, with the late’s children even organizing the former police chief’s daughter’s wedding two years ago.
“I am very close to the Joan Kagezi family. The children are like my children. In 2023, the children helped organise the wedding of my daughter,” he further said.
“Whoever is spreading this propaganda now is definitely evil.”
It should be remembered that recently, a UPDF deserter confessed that he was given Shs500K for taking part in the killing of Joan Kagezi, as reported Here.
Meanwhile, Kale Kayihura recently got a new job. (See Details Here).
