HOMOSEXUALITY: I once shared a story when I was at the law school, about the Enguli Act. The Bazungu (Whites) had introduced it in the 1950s. And 20 or so years, there wasn’t a single prosecution or conviction. So when Prof. Kiapi asked, why, it was an easy answer: there were never any EXHIBITS to produce in Court! The Waragi was drunk on site. And what was left would be consumed at the Police Station and the rest by Court clerks and probably the Grade 3 Magistrate.
Let’s go on PROSTITUTION: Eg, our laws are full of Penal Sanctions for the crime of PROSTITUTION, and I always see police raids and arrests of prostitutes. I don’t remember any conviction of a prostitute. If you know, please remind me. Why? Because the ENFORCERS Of The Law are the CLIENTS!
Now, Prostitution which was an individual practice has evolved into an INDUSTRY, with Escort services online and covering entire streets and in Hotels. They actually need to be legalized, organized and licensed, so they can be taxed like happens in Europe? (discuss).
The crimes of Homosexuality, Sodomy, Bestiality, etc, are well provided for in our Penal Code. Why is there no single prosecution/ Conviction? Is it lack of law? Or is it because it is a crime of the middle class and their corroborator, corrupt elites, who wield power and control institutions and “enforce the law”?
So, what’s the relationship between Power and these Sexual Crimes; same as corruption? Because Peasants steal nothing! These practices existed in our societies, all societies, even here in Africa. What is different is that they are now organized in social movements.
So what has changed? Those who look at Homosexuality as just a moral sin and try to apply mechanical tools alone to combat it are lost. They fail to understand its genesis and what are the drivers. You see, Homosexuality and other new sexual orientations aren’t just stand-alone practices: they have evolved as political and cultural movements in today’s Global Order.
These are not MORAL issues per se: they are POLITICAL/ CULTURAL and SOCIAL Movements. They are founded on the Notion which challenges the hitherto dominant Social Construct of Masculinity and Femininity. It’s a new outlook which challenges the Historical view of the HETEROSEXUAL NUCLEAR FAMILY (heteronormativity). Hence the rise of Gender Wars e.g., Radical Feminism and challenging the concept of family as was historically conceived is at the centre of what we see today.
Therefore, your Daughters and Sons, who are sold to this new thinking are fighting a bigger war than you, the Dinosaurs understand! It’s a REAL WAR. So if you want to deal with it, start thinking, not as peasants.
Just like our grandparents thought they would defeat Christianity and Islam by a few burnings here and there. Or, that they would defeat Colonization by throwing a few spears here and there. You are fighting real IDEOLOGICAL WARS! So?
