Elderly former former Ethiopian Airlines CEO Girma Wake has met President Yoweri Museveni as the president moves to put together a transition team to clean up the mess left behind by outgoing Uganda Airlines CEO Jennifer Bamuturaki.
Museveni and Girma Wake, aged 82, met at State House Entebbe. Girma Wake was in company of Robert Kateera.
Museveni said he and Girma “discussed matters regarding air transport among other issues.”

Later, Andrew Mwenda said Girma Wake will help with the transition to clean up the mess from the Bamuturaki team.
He hoped “[Girma] Wake will help us manage the transition from the current corrupt and incompetent management to a new one,” adding that “We shall also need an entirely new administrative approach to managing Uganda airlines,” and that “the time for quarrels and recriminations should end. Now is time for concrete solutions.”
The Uganda Airlines CEO job has already been advertised, and even if he was interested, Girma Wake is above the set age limit.
