FATHER VS SON: Chairman Nyanzi Rebukes Makerere Guild President Ssentamu for Meeting Museveni

Fred Nyanzi Ssentamu, the main opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) head of mobilization and elder brother to party president Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine, has rebuked his son James Churchill Ssentamu for posing for photographs with President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni Tibuhaburwa.

In the photos taken during the opening of the Makerere University Science and Innovations Week, guild president James Churchill Ssentamu sat next to President Museveni.

The photo made many to start questioning whether Nyanzi, who was previously a member of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM), was really loyal to the struggle under his brother Bobi Wine.

Nyanzi says that he is very unhappy with Ssentamu for posing with Museveni. He suggests that he does not endorse the idea of his son meeting with Museveni.

Worried that the photo might be used by the government to discredit the struggle, he has instructed his son to issue an apology.

“My son Churchill, the man you are sitting next is a dictator. His hands are stained with blood. You know that a few months ago, he tried to harm me. He attempted to harm your uncle Kyagulanyi,” Nyanzi told Ssentamu.

“I want you to come out and apologize to Ugandans, to me your father and the National Unity Platform. You are our son in whom we have huge expectations. Please do the right thing.”

Ssentamu was an independent candidate after NUP gave its card to Ismail Basalirwa. He polled 3,459 ahead of John Bosco Rukundo of the NRM who got 3,267 votes while the NUP candidate came third with 3,126 votes.

Meanwhile, at the event, Museveni reminded arts teachers and other government employees from the humanities that Shakespeare’s plays cannot treat dying patients and that therefore, scientists will continue to earn more salaries and be prioritized, as reported Here.
