At least seven members of former minister without portfolio Hajji Abdul Nadduli’s family have reportedly been ‘kidnapped’ and taken away from their home in vehicles commonly known as ‘drones.’
The seven are said to have been picked from their home in Semuto in the Central Uganda district of Nakaseke on Tuesday, November 08, 2022 morning. They were reportedly bundled into ‘drones’ and driven away to an unknown destination between 3 AM and 4 AM on Tuesday.
The operatives ‘kidnapped’ the first group of five members of Nadduli’s family between 3 AM and 4 AM before returning hours later, at about 8 AM, to arrest two more. Those arrested at 8 AM were two girls said to be about 20 years of age. The girls are said to be daughters of Yusuf Jakana, a man believed to be a young brother to Hajji Abdul Nadduli.
It is said that Yusuf Jakana was picked with the 3 AM – 4 AM group, only for his daughters to also be arrested later. The girls were picked by suspected security operatives driving a private Toyota Premio.
Jakana Nadduli, the son of former minister Abdul Nadduli, died last month, only a few weeks after being released from prison on bail for promoting sectarianism against Banyankore and Banyarwanda tribes of Uganda.
Hajji Abdul Nadduli is one of the remaining heroes of the National Resistance Army (NRA) bush war, a struggle that catapulted President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni to power in 1986. Gen Museveni has ordered an investigation into what exactly killed Jakana Nadduli, but former Minister Nadduli seems to have an idea about his son’s cause of death. (See Details Here and There).
It remained unclear what security agency had arrested Nadduli’s family members and where they are being detained. It was also unclear what crimes the members of the former minister’s family had committed and for which they had been ‘droned’ in a manner that has been criticized by human rights crusaders.
It should be remembered that during Jakana’s burial, there was chaos during which angry mourners beat up a supporter and mobilizer of President Museveni’s ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) like a chicken thief. (See Details Here and There).
