KAMPALA – Uganda’s education ministry has appointed 150 acting secondary school headteachers. The Education Service Commission (ESC) officially released the results for candidates who applied to serve as acting headteachers in government secondary schools, instructing successful applicants to report for further processing.
In a notice dated June 04, 2026, which The Pearl Times has seen, the Commission informed applicants who interfaced with it between 27th and 28th April, 2026 that the long-awaited results are now out.

“The Secretary, Education Service Commission hereby informs acting headteachers for government secondary education who interfaced with the Commission between 27th – 28th April, 2026 in respect to the submission from the Ministry of Education and Sports vide letter ref; ADM 092/308/04 dated 18th March, 2026 that results are hereby released,” the letter, written by acting ESC secretary Mohammed Kaaya, states.

The Commission further directed successful candidates to take immediate action:
“The personnel whose names appear on the attached lists should report to the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education and Sports for issuance of appropriate letters,” further noted Kaaya.
The letter, signed by Kaaya Mohammed on behalf of the Secretary of the Education Service Commission, carries the official ESC letterhead and contact details from Farmers’ House in Kampala.
This development marks a significant step in addressing leadership gaps in Uganda’s public secondary schools.
The process stemmed from a formal request by the Ministry of Education and Sports earlier this year, with shortlisted or interviewed candidates having interfaced directly with the Commission in late April.

Successful candidates are expected to receive appointment letters from the Permanent Secretary’s office in the coming days.
