The European Union (EU) has dismissed reports that it urged National Unity Platform (NUP) leader Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine to warn his supporters against sectarian statements that could fuel genocide.
On February 04, a delegation of EU visited Bobi Wine at his home in Magere in Wakiso District.
After the meeting, EU head of delegation Attilio Pacifici said the discussion was a way to “exchange views and hear their concerns following the elections.”
“We value and encourage dialogue with and between all political actors. I look forward to meetings also with other political parties in the near future.”
There were reports that the EU envoys urged Bobi Wine to restrain his supporters from uttering sectarian statements that could fuel genocide
But EU later dismissed the statement that appeared issues by its press office.
“Please disregard a fake statement circulating online, attributed to the European Union High Representative following a meeting today between EU Heads of Mission and NUP leaders,” read a statement issued online.
