Bobi Wine, Head of EU delegation Attilio Pacifici and Moses Kibalama
Moses Kibalama Nkonge, a founder member of the National Unity Platform (NUP), has petitioned Attilio Pacifici, the head of the European Union (EU) Delegation in Uganda, and the Electoral Chairman (EC) to compel Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine out of the party president’s office.
Last week, Kibalama and his group held a controversial delegates conference in Kampala during which they resolved to fire Bobi Wine and other leaders such as Secretary General David Lewis Rubongoya and Spokesperson Joel Ssenyonyi.
Kibalama, who now says he is the new NUP Vice President, as well as ‘new’ Secretary General Paul Ssimbwa Kagombe have since written to Ambassador Pacifici and EC, whose chairperson is Justice Simon Mugenyi Byabakama, informing them of the new changes.
“Pursuant to Article 11 clause 4 subsection (1) of the National Unity Platform Party Constitution, at the delegates conference of the National Unity Platform held on the 27th May 2022, in exercise of the party internal democracy the delegates of National Unity Platform resolved to have leadership changes aimed at strengthening the party,” Kibalama and Ssimbwa informed EU and EC, seeking for recognition of the new leadership.
But Bobi Wine’s camp has rubbished Kibalama and the news changes, calling his group ‘crooks.’ (Read Story Here).
