President Yoweri Museveni’s younger brother and Chief Coordinator of Operation Wealth Creation (OWC) Gen Caleb Akandwanaho aka Gen Salim Saleh has told off Ugandan singers trooping the northern Ugandan city of Gulu to beg from him.
Over the years, Gen Salim Saleh has been a key link between singers and his brother Yoweri Museveni, the Ugandan president and national chairman of the ruling NRM party.

His home at Te-dam Cell, Bardege Parish, Layibi-Bardege Division in Gulu City has been the meeting place for the singers who leave Kampala, rent Gulu hotels and see to it that they meet the president’s brother from whom they seek financial support.
Some even come with ideas to popularize government development programs as a way of tapping into the pockets and budget run by Gen Salim Saleh.
One of these is Emmanuel Suuna aka Omulangira Suuna who composed a song to promote and praise government wealth creation. After he sang it, he was quoted as saying, “General, I love you so much. This song I am going to sing is about wealth creation. This is among the songs that I have on this matter.”
But when he stood to comment on the composition, Gen Salim Saleh trashed the song, fuming, “Musicians have failed to make music; they can’t even make good music. The truth is, ‘you have sung nothing.’ Don’t you have our wealth creation musicians? If you want to leave, leave.”
Omulangira Suuna was left speechless. He coiled in shame.
The musicians were in for much more shock: a rebuke from Gen Salim Saleh.
“Musicians, I am tired of you. That one I have to repeat on camera. You have taken a lot of time. I have not even had time to meet the NRM people, can you imagine? Because when it is morning, I am meeting Butcherman, the afternoon, I am meeting Ragga Dee, in the evening..” he lamented.
He then asked Ragga Dee to rein on the musicians so they stop disturbing his work and peace, and even probably stop begging.
In November 2024, Gen Salim Saleh wrote to singer Edrisa Musuuza aka Eddy Kenzo, the President of the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) and Senior Presidential Advisor on Creatives, to stop musicians to stop heading to Gulu on a begging spree.
“Presidential Advisor, creatives and President Uganda National Musicians Associations, please handle musicians who are flocking to Gulu for Christmas festivities shows. They are interfering with my work in northern Uganda,” wrote Salim Saleh.
This is the first tough message Gen Salim Saleh has made since his wife came out to dispel rumors that he was either very sick or dead as reported Here.
Gen Salim Saleh is one of Museveni’s most trusted and powerful advisors, one of the first family members reportedly interested in succeeded his elder brother Museveni, and one believed to be a fearless general with potential to remove Museveni if he wanted. (See Details Here, There and Over There).
