Education Ministry Appoints New Deputy Headteachers for Secondary Schools. See Their Names

The Ministry of Education and Sports, through the Education Service Commission (ESC), has appointed over 40 new secondary school deputy headteachers.

The names were confirmed as the ESC released the results of interviews for the appointment of Deputy Headteachers under the Ministry of Education and Sports, confirming 42 successful candidates who will serve in government secondary schools across Uganda under the Uganda Intergovernmental Fiscal Transfers Program (UGIFT).

The appointments follow interviews conducted between June 10 and June 16, 2026, under Internal Advert No. 5/2025 and its addendum for the post of Deputy Headteacher in Government Secondary Education.

In a notice dated July 23, 2026, Mohammed Kaaya, the Acting Secretary of the Education Service Commission, announced that the results had officially been released.

“The Secretary, Education Service Commission informs candidates who sat for interviews from 10th – 16th June, 2026 under Internal Advert No. 5/2025 and Addendum to Internal Advert No. 5/2025 for the post of Deputy Headteacher, Government Secondary Education, Ministry of Education and Sports that the results are hereby released,” Kaaya said in the notice.

Kaaya said successful candidates are required to collect their notification letters in person from the Education Service Commission Registry at Farmers House on Parliamentary Avenue in Kampala.

“Appointed personnel should pick their notification letters in person from the Education Service Commission Registry on First Floor, Room 111, Farmers House at Parliamentary Avenue, Kampala on Wednesday 29th July, 2026, between 9:00 am – 4:00 pm,” Kaaya said.

He added that all successful candidates must present their original national identification cards before receiving their appointment letters.

“Please come along with your original identification card,” Kaaya said.

The Acting Secretary also clarified that candidates whose names do not appear on the released list were not successful in the recruitment exercise.

“Those whose names do not appear should consider themselves unsuccessful,” Kaaya said.

According to the Commission, the appointments were made in accordance with Articles 167, 168 and 172 of the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda, 1995, and cover deputy headteacher positions in government secondary schools spread across several districts.

The Education Service Commission said the successful candidates will assume leadership roles in government secondary schools established under the UGIFT programme, which was introduced to expand access to quality secondary education in underserved areas across Uganda.
