Speaker Anita Among is leading former speaker Rebecca Kadaga in the race for second national vice chairperson (female) of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) Central Executive Committee (CEC), according to provisional results obtained by The Pearl Times Decision Desk.
Before voting started, both Kadaga and Among were given a chance to rally delegates by presenting their manifestos.
Kadaga relied on her track record to try and convince delegates that she is the best for the job. As a cadre of the NRM, Kadaga said she would keep the party popular among the electorate. She also complained of voter bribery, claiming that her opponent was buying delegates.
Among said she would help mobilize for the NRM and that she would promote unity and empower local government leaders. She also promised to lobby for more positions for special interest groups in government.
