A Kabale District councillor has won the NRM flag for western Uganda PwDs MP position. Eunice Ndyamuhaki is now a step away from becoming an MP representing Western Uganda’s Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).
Eunice Ndyamuhaki is a female councillor representing Persons with Disabilities in Kabale District Council.
Ndyamuhaki was in the race for the NRM flag for western Uganda PwDs MP position with Gabriel Katto and Naboth Rwakazaire.
Ambassador James Kinobe was the returning office for this particular election, one of the many NRM polls for special interest groups (SIGs).
Results released by the NRM Electoral Commission (EC) indicate that Ndyamuhaki garnered 336 votes.
Gabriel Katto got 252 votes while Naboth Rwakazaire trailed with just six votes.
With this flag, Ndyamuhaki will now move to convince delegates to choose her from a pool of other party candidates and independents in the 2026 parliamentary elections.
If she succeeds Eunice Ndyamuhaki will be one of the five members of parliament representing persons with disabilities in parliament of Uganda.
Other MPs for PWDs will represent the regions of northern Uganda, central Uganda and eastern Uganda.
There will be a national female MP for persons with disabilities.
MPs for persons with disabilities are voted for by a conference of delegates, as opposed to adult suffrage as is the case for other MPs (save for other SIGS like youths and UPDF).
