The Representatives of the President in the districts and cities have been asked to collaborate effectively with the District Intelligence Security Officers (DISO) in implementing government programs.
The government has launched numerous programs aimed at alleviating poverty among Ugandans. However, many of these initiatives have encountered implementation challenges, with several officials accused of corruption undermining their success.
The message was read by Dr Dan Sekiboobo the senior Presidential Advisor on Research while closing a 3-day regional capacity building workshop for Rdcs/Rccs/Deputies/Assistants and Disos from greater Ankole sub-region held at hotel triangle, Mbarara city.
The capacity building workshop was specifically aimed at equipping the commissioners with key skills in their roles and responsibilities in service delivery, security, work harmonization, conflict management, political involvement, poor absorption of public resources, and wealth creation.
She asked them to understand that the functions of the RDC’s office cannot sufficiently be implemented without the support and collaboration of the DISOs who perform a cardinal role of providing intelligence not only on security matters but also opening guiding on the implementation of government programs and projects.
She challenged them to work together to remove any hindrances in service delivery such as poor accountability, unclear systems, and corruption.
“Fearing to expose the corrupt means you are working with them, rather continue fighting hard to eliminate these instances in your districts but especially for you to personally avoid any involvement in the same” Babalanda said.
She narrated that “As Office of the President, we are champions of a corrupt-free country. We do not work with corrupt staff. If you are caught red-handed, no one will defend you and will be individually subjected to the full course of the law just like any other Ugandan”.
She also asked them to start mobilizing Communities ahead of the 2026 elections by citing the NRM Manifesto Commitments achieved so far in the Greater Ankole sub-region.
