CDF GEN MUHOOZI KAINERUGABA! Ugandan President Gen Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni has appointed his son Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba the new Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) of the national army, the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF).
CDF Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba will take over from Gen Wilson Mbasu Mbadi who was appointed junior trade minister at the Minister of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives (MTIC).
Museveni also dropped Deputy CDF Lt Gen Peter Elwelu. He consoled him with a presidential advisor job.
The new deputy CDF is Lt Gen Samuel Okiding.
In other appointments, Museveni appointed Maj Gen Leopold Eric Kyanda a defence attache.
Maj Gen Kyanda has been the Joint Chief of Staff.
The new Joint Chief of Staff will now be Maj Gen Jackson Bakasumba.
Meanwhile, the president has appointed Brig Gen David Mugisha to the rank of major general. Col Asaph Nyakikurun was promoted from the rank of colonel to brigadier general.
