Bobi Wine: I Would be Like Jay-Z But Because of Museveni…

Ugandan singer and politician Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine has said that he would currently be like Jay-Z if President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni had not mismanaged the country.

Bobi Wine is one of Uganda’s best artistes of his time. Music won him a name as one of the country’s most celebrated artistes, helping him rise out of the ghetto to become wealthy.

Previously known for his music and love for weed, Bobi Wine rebranded to join Uganda’s political scene.

Known for his songs that used to highlight the plight of the poor and the cost of living, among other issues, Bobi Wine joined elective politics in 2017.

He won the Kyadondo East by-election and didn’t seek reelection for a parliamentary seat in the 2021 polls.

Instead, he acquired the National Unity Platform (NUP) party and used it as a vehicle to vie for the country’s top office: the presidency.

He came second to Museveni and his NUP eclipsed Dr Kizza Besigye’s Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) as the main opposition party in Parliament.

Now, as he is preparing for a second presidential election run, Bobi Wine is unhappy that he is not as successful as Jay-Z and he believes it’s Museveni’s fault that he is not at Jay-Z’s level. Jay-Z, real name Shawn Corey Carter, is an American rapper, record producer, and entrepreneur.

“I was a very smart and talented young man. I got successful much earlier, in fact, if we were well governed I would be much more successful. By the time I came into politics I was probably the richest artiste in the country,” Bobi Wine told KFM’s VPN.

“If we were in a better Uganda, maybe I would be Jay-Z. It is Museveni’s fault that I’m not Jay-Z. I’m trying to make it possible for you because it shouldn’t only be me.”

Meanwhile, Bobi Wine is on a countrywide tour during which he has urged Ugandans never to vote Museveni’s son Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba as president. His party has also claimed that they have received sensitive security intelligence from European diplomats indicating that Bobi Wine’s life is in serious danger. (See Details Here and There).
