Besigye Health Condition: PFF Gives Worrying Update

The People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) says the health of its leader Dr Kizza Besigye is “deteriorating.” In an update on the Besigye health condition, the PFF also made a serious accusation against the Museveni state: of plotting to kill the veteran opposition politician.

Besigye and his aide Obeid Lutale Kamulegeya have been in prison for nearly 10 months now, following their abduction from the Kenyan capital Nairobi in November.

They face treason charges relating to an alleged plot to disrupt national security.

Besigye has previously appeared in court frail and weak.

On Monday, September 01, he did not appear in court for a scheduled session because he was sick.

“The state is determined to kill Dr. Besigye,” the PFF began its statement, before describing Dr Besigye’s “health conditions in prison are deteriorating and fast.”

The People’s Front for Freedom also accused the state of blocking family members from visiting Besigye for days now.

“What is more worrying is that the Uganda Prisons authorities have denied access to him. Not even his family members have been allowed to access him since last Friday,” PFF claimed.

The party, Uganda’s newest, also alleged that “the abrupt cutoff of visitors, really raises fears that his health may have taken a turn for the worse.”

“Leaked reports describe his physical condition as frail and shivery,” the PFF added.

Describing the current government as “Mr Museveni killer regime,” the PFF expressed worry about Besigye’s life.

“The cloudiness of the situation is worrying yet the intention of Mr Museveni killer regime is clear,” the People’s Front for Freedom further wrote.

“Musasizi Kifefe, Dr. Besigye’s young brother, was killed in the same way. Prisons authorities must come out clear on this before it gets out of hand.”
