Officers from Uganda’s army, the UPDF, and Uganda Police Force (UPF) have this Tuesday, June 10, 2025, raided the headquarters of main opposition National Unity Platform (NUP).
Security operatives fired bullets and made arrests from the headquarters of the Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine-led political party.
Bobi Wine described the raid as “criminality.”
“The military and police just raided the NUP Headquarters and fired bullets. Several comrades have been injured and others arrested,” he wrote.
“No explanation has been given for this criminality!”
NUP secretary general David Lewis Rubongoya said the raid was a “blatant violation of our premises.”
State security agencies have in recent months arrested, tortured and detained Bobi Wine’s supporters and bodyguards like Eddie Mutwe. (See Details Here, There and Over There).
We also reported about a Kiruhura milk seller who was arrested for saying she will vote a bottle — and not President Museveni — in 2026 Here.
Some of those arrested previously such as Eddie Mutwe were tortured in a basement, with Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba saying he was teaching him Runyankore.
It was against such acts that Bobi Wine wrote to Banyankore and Bakiga elders to condemn Muhoozi’s actions and statements before it is too late, as reported Here.
