ANOTHER EXPENSIVE FUNERAL: Shs2.5bn to be Spent on Jacob Oulanyah Burial

At least Shs2.5bn will be used to facilitate the burial of Jacob Oulanyah, the late speaker of the 11th Parliament. 

Oulanyah died in the US on March 20. (Read Story Here).

Information minister Dr Chris Baryomunsi says Oulanyah died of cancer. (Read Story Here).

Government is expected to release the program for the burial of Oulanyah.

Ahead of the return of the body, preparations for the burial are in high gear.

At the heart of the preparations is the Acholi Parliamentary Group, Parliament and Government.

Those working on the burial arrangements have drafted a budget to the tune of Shs2.5bn.

Of this amount, Shs 1.1bn is expected to be used on the day of burial.

Funeral service provider A-Plus will take just a little over Shs220m for its services rendered during the mourning period and on burial day.

The burial organizing committee has set aside almost Shs250m for the work of the finance sub-committee.

Nearly Shs160m will be spent on security while about Shs125m will buy fuel.

The Acholi Parliamentary Group will take a little over Shs310m for their role in the burial.
