Days after ICT and national guidance minister Dr Chris Baryomunsi contradicted first son and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba on whether the state was or was not hunting for opposition leader Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine, there is an eruption of a war of words as Muhoozi tells Dr Chris Baryomunsi ‘you will never be minister again.’
As The Pearl Times reported Dr Chris Baryomunsi seemed to pour cold water on Gen Muhoozi’s statements on the search for Bobi Wine. (You can see details Here).
Then Muhoozi’s diehard supporters like Kasambya MP David Kabanda began criticizing Baryomunsi online.
Kabanda even called Baryomunsi an opportunist.
With due respect to you Hon. Dr. Chris Baryomunsi, a known opportunist who came to government for political survival, you have no moral authority to despise General Muhoozi Kainerugaba. You abducted a priest last elections in kanungu to suppress your opposition. You celebrated the death of Mr Garuga because you knew very well that as long as he had lived todate you had no chances of returning to parliament,” alleged Kabanda.
“You belong to a known clique in NRM that survives on political blackmail. You are even blackmailing the President now with your threats of running for speaker such that u can be “bought” off the race with a big slot in cabinet. One major reason why people like Baryomunsi and his likes hate Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba is because they are aware that unlike Mzee M7 who tolerates their blackmail, Gen MK can’t and will never tolerate them. It’s a question of time. Rewarding blackmail and mediocrity will come to an end!”
Now Muhoozi has also come out to blast Baryomunsi, calling him a traitor and one who will never be minister again.
‘Baryomunsi, the traitor, will never be a Minister again,” wrote Muhoozi ““It doesn’t matter. We are still sacking you. You probably need the Peter Pan Syndrome.”
Baryomunsi then responded talking about how he does not take alcohol and how he is as tough as the Bakiga come.
“My father trained me to believe in myself. He restrained me from taking alcohol. Am sober 24/7 and focussed. He let me free and I don’t suffer from Peter Pan Syndrome. Those attacking me on Twitter/X don’t know the material, we the original Bakiga are made of. Go slow,” the minister wrote.
“I rose from obscurity to where am because of my abilities not favours from anybody. Am self made. Being a Minister is not necessarily the best thing in life. My horizon is far beyond that. Let’s serve Uganda. Cheers.”
Then Muhoozi responded, again, “It doesn’t matter. You will not be Minister this time. First come and make peace with me.”
In the last few days, Gen Muhoozi, his supporters and the UPDF have also been involved in a war of words over a US senator who is calling on President Donald Trump to punish Muhoozi over Bobi Wine, as reported Here, There and Over There.
Also, as we await a new cabinet in coming months, many of the names on the current cabinet list are expected to be dropped. See how Museveni cabinet list looks like as of today Here.
