Commissioner of Parliament Mathias Mpuuga, the Nyendo-Mukungwe MP, and his colleagues are expected to receive over Shs1bn, each, as a reward for their work and to help them with their political campaigns going into the 2026 elections, according to reports.
The other commissioners are: Esther Afoyochan, the Zombo District Woman MP, Prossy Akampurira Begumisa Mbabazi, the Rubanda District Woman MP, and Solomon Silwany, the Bukooli Central MP.
Details of the deal are not yet so clear but reports indicated that the four commissioners would get the money sometime around the Easter break.
It should be remembered that Afoyochan, Akampurira, and Silwany previously got about Shs400m each, while Mpuuga got Shs500m.
It was this cash reward that prompted the National Unity Platform (NUP) president Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine to sack Mpuuga as leader of opposition in parliament (LoP), replacing him with Joel Ssenyonyi.
Bobi Wine also sacked Mpuuga as his deputy for Buganda, but the National Unity Platform’s attempts to fire the Nyendo-Mukungwe MP as commissioner failed.
Court would later clear Mpuuga, prompting him to blast Bobi Wine and his NUP colleagues to use their brains, as reported Here.
Just last week, it emerged that Museveni had given each MP Shs100m in the so-called Easter cash bonanza. (Read more on the Shs100m Easter bonanza Here, There and Over There).
