Uganda’s Parliament has released a three-day program for swearing-in of MPs showing when each member will take oath.
Incoming Abim District Woman MP Aayoo Joyce Makamoe will be the first 12th Parliament lawmaker to take oath while Nakasongola District Woman MP Zawedde Victorious will be the last one.
The swearing-in program will run from Wednesday, May 13, 2026 , to Friday, May 15, 2026.
“Notice is hereby given that the Clerk to Parliament will, on 13th, 14th and 15th May 2026 at Parliament House, administer the Oath of Allegiance and the Oath of Member of Parliament to each person elected as a Member of Parliament in accordance with the following Schedule,” Parliament said in a notice issued today, Thursday, 26 March 2026.
On Wednesday, 13 May 2026, from 8.00am to 1.30pm, the ceremony will start with the oath taking by Aayoo Joyce Makamoe and end with oath taking by Babirye Milly Babalanda, the current minister of presidency who was elected MP in January 2026.
On Wednesday, 13 May 2026, from 2.00pm to 6.30pm, the ceremony will start with the oath taking by Babula Noel Kataike Matilda and end with oath taking by Kanaabi Jimmy.
On Thursday, 14 May 2026, from 8.00am to 1.30pm, the ceremony will start with the oath taking by Kangwagye Stephen Rwakanuma and end with oath taking by Lukyamuzi David Kalwanga.
On Thursday, 14 May 2026, from 2.00pm to 6.30pm, the ceremony will start with the oath taking by Lule Eria Erick and end with oath taking by Nambeshe John Baptist.
On Friday, 15 May 2026, from 8.00am to 1.30pm, the ceremony will start with the oath taking by Nambooze Teddy and end with oath taking by Opolot Patrick.
On Friday, 15 May 2026, from 2.00pm to 6.30pm, the ceremony will start with the oath taking by Opolot-Okwalinga Simon Peter and end with oath taking by Zawedde Victorious.
Regarding guidelines, each Member-elect of Parliament has been requested to collect his or her invitation card, programme booklet and biodata form from the Office of the Clerk on Monday, May 4, 2026 and Tuesday, May 05, 2026 between 9.00am and 5.00pm.
“Filled-in biodata forms may be returned to Room 112, First Floor, South Wing or handed in at the Registration Desk on the day of swearing-in,” the statement further read. “Each Member-elect of Parliament is requested to follow the schedule above and advised to keep time.”
Each Member-elect of Parliament shall be accompanied by three people only, while each Member-elect of Parliament with disabilities shall be granted one additional person as an aide, according to the guidelines.
