The salaries of Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) elected leaders have been a subject of interest for many Ugandans. As Ronald Balimwezo Nsubuga waits to take over office from Erias Lukwago, let us look at the salaries and allowances and see how much Balimwezo, deputy and other KCCA political leaders will be earning every month.
Remember that Balimwezo will have to pick a lord councilor to become his deputy, replacing deputy mayor Doreen Nyanjura.
KCCA elected leadership includes division mayors, speakers and deputy speakers and councilllors. Let us look at their salaries and allowances.
Balimwezo’s salary will be about UGX 24 million, with allowances and other entitlements making the figure as high as UGX 45 million.
His Deputy Lord Mayor for Kampala will be taking home UGX 16 million monthly.
The KCCA Speaker will be taking home UGX 14.7 million, while the Deputy Speaker will be pocketing UGX 12.5 million.
Three Authority Council Executive Members will each be earning UGX 12.5 million every month.
Other KCCA leaders include lord councilors, who will earn UGX 5,550,000 monthly, and division councilors in the range of UGX 3M.
For Balimwezo, the salary and allowances will be comparable to what he has been earning as MP for Nakawa East.
