YOU SHOULD BE IN PRISON! MP Michael Mawanda Roasted for Calling Bobi Wine an Empty Tin

Bobi Wine's Comments Create War of Words Between Him and PLU

YOU SHOULD BE IN PRISON! MP Michael Mawanda Roasted for Calling Bobi Wine an Empty Tin CORRUPTION: Detectives Search MP Michael Mawanda Maranga’s Home for Three Hours

Michael Mawanda

The war of words between main opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) party leader Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine, and members of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) after Bobi Wine referred to the first son and PLU leader Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba as not so smart yet only surviving on taxpayers’ money.

In reaction, PLU secretary general David Kabanda, the Kasambya County MP, shot back at Bobi Wine, saying “only a f0ol and an id1ot can abuse someone who is not competing with them.”

Kabanda added that “instead of responding to his competitors, he [Bobi Wine] seems to be obessessed with General Muhoozi Kainerugaba and this is way beyond imagination.”

He wondered: “Why would Bobi Wine insult Gen MK who in fact is too busy for his antics. Let them keep provoking him, I hope they will bear the heat when he decides to respond to them.”

Michael Mawanda Maranga, the Director of Mobilisation at the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), who is also the Member of Parliament for Igara East in Bushenyi District, called a press conference to respond to the statements made by Bobi Wine at a rally in Soroti where he also called the residents there slaves to Museveni and his son.

Mawanda and his PLU have demanded an apology from Bobi Wine. Mawanda later wrote, “Bobi wine should in fact know that it is often empty tins that make the loudest noise. Again, he has never even offered any policy proposals to signal or show how he would make things better to ordinary Ugandans. His insults against those much more educated and qualified than him, are simply an attempt to distract from his own incompetences.”

But several of his critics shot back at Mawanda, with some alluding to his recent troubles with the law over cooperatives scandal, and saying he should be in jail. Here are some reactions from microblogging site X:

“I thought thieves should be in prison. Why are you here? asked Nahabwe Bruce @brucenahabwe1

“The only policy proposals you have ever offered is stealing 165 Bn of taxpayer’s money,” claimed Walusimbi @walusimbi_ug.

“Interesting to hear about ‘competence’ from someone whose achievements include diverting public funds! Bobi Wine’s vision is about accountability and integrity—something Uganda hasn’t seen in years from those claiming to be ‘qualified.’ If real change threatens you, maybe the noise isn’t coming from an ‘empty tin,’ but from the people tired of corruption and ready for a leader with true integrity,” opined SSEKABIRA PATRICK @patrickMalala9

“Which policy proposals does Muhoozi present, actually bobi normally voices out our problems like corruption of which you are a master, tribalism, poor schools and roads, youth unemployment etc , our problems don’t need Rocket science to be dealt with provided we get rid of you,” submitted senkandwa Yusuf @SenkandwaY980.

“Who allowed Thieves to voice their opinions at the public square? The only conversation u must fully participate in is the one about improving standards of prisons. It’s called: securing your future,” wrote KristinaM Desire @TinahDesire.

It should be remembered that as Gen Muhoozi told his father to release his mobilizer Michael Mawanda who was facing the law over theft, with several billions reportedly found in his home. Muhoozi said the president, his father, should instead arrest Odrek Rwabwogo, whom he called the biggest thief in Uganda. (See Details Here, There and Over There).
