Bobi Wine during a previous arrest by police. Mabirizi wants court to issue a warrant of arrest for the NUP leader
Perennial litigant Hassan Male Mabirizi has asked Nakawa Magistrate’s court issue a warrant of arrest for National Unity Platform (NUP) leader Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine.
In his application before the Nakawa Court, Mabirizi accuses the NUP president of giving false information and also of obtaining a driving license by false pretence.
On August 30, 2020, Mabirizi wrote to the Chief Licensing Officer of Motor Vehicles at the Ministry of Works and Transport requesting for certified copies of documents which Bobi Wine presented when he was applying for his driving licence as well as the papers submitted for renewals.
In less than two weeks, on September 10, Works and Transport Ministry Permanent Secretary (PS) Waiswa Bageya responded to Mabirizi’s letter.
PS Baligeya told Mabirizi that Bobi Wine secured a Class B driving permit on August 03, 2017.
Documents accessed by Mabirizi also indicated that Bobi Wine indicated February 02, 1982 as his date of birth.
Now Mabirizi wants the singer-turned-politician prosecuted for lying about his age, giving false information and for obtaining a driving permit by false pretence.
The lawyer argues that the date on Bobi Wine’s driving permit is different from that on his academic documents from Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB).
Mabirizi has also requested the presiding magistrate to issue a warrant of arrest for Bobi Wine since he has previously defied court summons.
