Trouble in Paradise as State Issues Orders against Bobi Wine

The state, through the Law Development Center (LDC) Court, has issued fresh criminal summons against National Unity Platform (NUP) leader Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine over charges of obtaining registration to Makerere University by false pretence.

Months ago, perennial litigant Male Mabirizi filed a case against the LDC Court detailing how Bobi Wine had allegedly obtained false registration at Makerere University by false pretence.

The former presidential candidate holds a Diploma in Music, Dance and Drama (MDD).

In his application, Mabirizi claimed that on October 21, 2000, Bobi Wine, then 20 years old, registered as a student of MDD on a mature age entry scheme, contrary to Makerere University Prospectus of 1999/2000-2000/2001.

As part of evidence that Mabirizi filed before the LDC Court, the lawyer presented certified copies of the prospectus which stated that in order for one to be admitted for the mature age entry then, one had to be at least 25 years old or have completed formal education at least five years previous to the year of admission.

Bobi Wine didn’t meet any of these requirements.

The Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) took over Mabirizi’s case on November 07.

The state even ordered police to investigate Bobi Wine and his education qualifications.

Bobi Wine refused to honour summons to appear before court twice: November 04 and November 07.

Now, LDC Court Magistrate Augustine Alule has issued fresh summons to appear before court.

“You are hereby commanded by the Uganda government to appear in this court on the 30th day of November 2021 at 10 am or so soon thereafter as the case may be,” ordered Alule.
