The body of Jacob L’Okori Oulanyah, the deceased former speaker of the 11th Parliament, has arrived at Parliament in Kampala for a special sitting during which legislators will pay their last respects to the former Omoro County MP.
Speaker Oulanyah died on March 20. (Read Story Here).
Oulanyah’s body was returned on April 01 amidst tears at the Entebbe International Airport. (Read Story Here).
The former speaker’s body was taken to his home in Muyenga, Kampala, on April 03. (Read Story Here).
On April 05 morning, Oulanyah’s body left the former speaker’s Muyenga home for the last time.
Members of the public gathered along Parliament Avenue to pay their respects to the former speaker.
The body was received at Parliament by Speaker Anita Annet Among, her deputy Thomas Tayebwa, and Leader of Opposition Mathias Mpuuga, among other top officials of Parliament.

The special sitting of parliament started a few minutes after 10am.
At 10:15am, the casket carrying the body Oulanyah was wheeled inside the House.
Speaker Among is chairing the special sitting which is being attended by vice president Jessica Alupo, prime minister Robinah Nabbanja, ministers and several MPs.
Oulanyah’s body is expected to spent a night in Parliament. (Read Story Here).
