Uganda Police Force (UPF) says 13 UPDF soldiers have been arrested for attacking Wakiso Police Station over a land dispute.
Thought to have come from the Presidential Taskforce on Land Matters and Environment, the UPDF soldiers had come in two vehicles.
Police said the UPDF soldiers wanted the Wakiso Division Commander to disregard the law in handling a land dispute, which she refused to do.
“[On] June 2, 2025, at around 5:00 PM, police officers at Wakiso Police Division were attacked by military personnel reportedly from the Presidential Taskforce on Land Matters and Environment driving a min Bus green in colour reg. No UBG 041U and a Toyota Noah UBR 647B,” Uganda Police Force said in a statement.
“The soldiers, thirteen (13) in number confronted the Wakiso Division Commander and other officers at the station while pursuing a land dispute. They demanded that the Division Police Commander (DPC) assist in a land eviction, which she refused, citing the absence of a court order and the lack of involvement from the district security committee.”
An exchange of fire made soldiers flee the station, police added.
“Her refusal angered the military personnel, leading them to confronting her. In response, her fellow officers at the station used armed force, resulting in an exchange of gunfire that forced the soldiers to flee the scene,” the statement further read.
A joint team of police and the army later arrested the 13 UPDF officers in Wakiso District. They are being detained and could face disciplinary action.
“Subsequently, a police team from Kampala Metropolitan North Region and the UPDF pursued and apprehended the suspects at Yesu Amala in Wakiso District,” police noted.
“The detained soldiers are currently in custody pending disciplinary action.”

It should be remembered that this was the second raid by UPDF officers on a police station in recent weeks, with the first one happening at Lubowa Police Station where police officers were beaten up, as reported Here.
