UCU Students’ Dean Pamela Tumwebaze Murder: What Houseboy Saw

A houseboy at the home of UCU students’ dean Pamela Tumwebaze has told police what he saw as detectives investigate the strangulation of the university’s administrator.

Police in Mukono District are investigating the murder of Pamela Tumwebaze, 46, Director of Student Affairs (or dean of students) at Uganda Christian University (UCU), who was strangled at her home.

The incident happened in Gwafu West Village, Seeta Ward, Goma Division, Mukono District, on February 11, 2026, around 2:00 AM, according to Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) spokesperson Racheal Kawala.

According to preliminary findings, the houseboy reported seeing an unknown man in Pamela’s bedroom, wearing her jeans and stockings.

The houseboy further revealed that the suspect fled with a laptop bag belonging to the deceased.

The maid and children found Pamela Tumwebaze unresponsive in her bed and rushed her to Namirembe Church of Uganda Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police task teams are on the case, working to identify, trace, and arrest the suspect.

In the words of KMP spokesperson Racheal Kawala

“Police in Mukono District have intensified investigations into the murder by strangulation of Tumwebaze Pamela, a 46-year-old Director of Student Affairs at Uganda Christian University (UCU) and a resident of Gwafu West Village, Seeta Ward, Goma Division, Mukono District.

The incident occurred on 11th February 2026 at around 0200 hours at her residence in the above-mentioned area.

Preliminary findings indicate that at around 0200 hours, the houseboy saw an unknown man inside her bedroom, wearing the deceased’s jeans and stockings. The suspect later fled the scene, carrying a laptop bag belonging to the deceased.

The maid and the children checked on their mother and found her unresponsive in her bed. She was rushed to Namirembe Church of Uganda Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police task teams have been deployed, and investigations and operations are ongoing to identify, trace, and arrest the suspect. The Uganda Police Force remains fully committed to ensuring that the perpetrator is apprehended and brought to justice.” SP Racheal Kawala PRO – KMP
