TROUBLE at Lubiri High School as State Slaps Charges on Teachers for Looking on as Students ‘Danced Themselves’ in Midland High School Bus

State prosecution has preferred charges against two teachers of Lubiri High School for reportedly looking on as students who were returning from a field trip in Jinja on June 10 ‘danced themselves.’

Following investigations by Police’s CID operatives, the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) preferred charges of two teachers over lack of enough supervision by during the field trip.

According to police spokesperson Fred Enanga, the bus was packed beyond capacity and the school should have sent more teachers to supervise the students.

“It was further established that the bus carried 73 students, which was more than the sitting capacity of 67 students. Although, the driver did not solicit the number of students, which is excusable, it was not appropriate for the school to assign only two teachers, who failed to properly supervise the bus activities,” said Enanga.

“All teachers charged with the duty of superintending students in school, must exercise reasonable supervision over them and the attendant circumstances. In this instance, instead of warning the students, they left them to behave in an egregious and unsafe manner.”

The two teachers who were with the students during the trip have been identified as Joseph Nsubuga and Lydia Nabakka.
