First son and Chief of Defence of Forces (CDF) Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has responded to allegations of tribalism against him. Gen Muhoozi also launched further verbal attacks against main opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) leader Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine.
Gen Muhoozi has been in the news after he confirmed he was detaining Bobi Wine’s bodyguard Edward Ssebuufu, popularly known as Eddie Mutwe, in his basement, and that he was learning Runyankore.
Eddie Mutwe is a Muganda by tribe and speaks Luganda, Uganda’s most widely spoken indigenous language.
English remains the official language in the country which has over 60 tribes and languages, most of them well documented.
Some interpreted the revelation that Muhoozi was forcing Eddie Mutwe to learn Runyankore, the Bantu language spoken by the first son and members of the first family who come from Ankole (Nkore) sub region, as an act of using language and culture as a tool of torture.
Days later, Eddie Mutwe was dumped at a Masaka court and remanded over robbery.
Meanwhile, Bobi Wine has condemned Gen Muhoozi for promoting trib@lism, warning that the first son and Chief of Defence Forces was trying to stoke fires that could consume the country in unimaginable proportions.
Some people even took to social media to dissociate themselves from the comments by Muhoozi, saying he neither represented nor spoke for them.
Now, Gen Muhoozi has spoken out on tribalism allegations.
Declining to take responsibility for his careless statements and to apologize over his acts against opposition, he accused Bobi Wine of tribalizing “every beating.”
“Kabobi [Bobi Wine] in his usual shall0wness and stup!d1ty tries to trib@lize every beating he gets from us,” wrote Gen Muhoozi.
Gen Muhoozi even attacked Bobi Wine education level, saying the main opposition leader is “not the brightest guy.”
“You have to excuse him [Bobi Wine]. He is not the brightest guy. The guy got a diploma in Music, Dance and Drama,” noted Museveni’s son, aged 51.
Bobi Wine has previously narrated his ‘painful’ education journey HERE.
But he has since earned a law degree, as reported Here.
He then went to claim that he loves the Baganda, Uganda’s most populous tribe, and that his Banyankore tribe and Bobi Wine’s Baganda tribe were very close.
“I personally love Baganda very much! Baganda and Banyankore are probably the closest people in the world,” he wrote.

Meanwhile, Bobi Wine has written to Banyankore elders, telling them to speak out against Gen Muhoozi’s statements and actions before he plunges the nation into chaos. Read Bobi Wine’s letter to Banyankore and Kigezi elders Here.
