STOP OR ELSE…: Museveni Stops His Son Muhoozi from Ever Doing This Again

Uganda’s President Gen Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni has directed his son and senior advisor on special operations, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, to behave well on social media, and stop sending out unnecessary posts that could put Uganda in diplomatic crises with her neighbors and other nations.

In recent months, Gen Muhoozi’s social media postings have caused a social media storm, with the latest one being his tweet on his army’s capacity to capture the Kenyan capital Nairobi within two weeks.

Following the tweet, Kenyans ‘roasted’ Muhoozi on social media. His father Museveni summoned the son for a meeting a discussion on his controversial posts, before announcing changes.

In the changes, Museveni fired his son from his position as the national army Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) Commander of Land Forces, replacing him with Lt Gen Apollo Muhanga Kayanja, the man who was commanding the UPDF-FARDC offensive against rebels of the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF). However, Museveni elevated Muhoozi from the rank of Lieutenant General, making him a full general, the highest rank in the national army.

Only 48 years old, Muhoozi is also his father’s advisor.

Now, following the changes involving his son, Museveni has revealed that he has told Muhoozi to stop posting certain issues on his Twitter account.

Museveni has told Kenyan television KTN News that he wants his son to stop writing about controversial issues such as politics, security and diplomacy, and spend his time posting about sporting events.

“If he (Muhoozi) was tweeting on sports, on things which are not controversial, that would not have been a problem,” said Museveni.

“But to talk about other countries, or even the partisan politics of Uganda, is what he should not do, and he will not do it.”

During his visit to Uganda during which he attended the first son’s State House birthday dinner months ago, Rwandan President Paul Kagame said he was ready to start editing Muhoozi’s tweets. (Read Story Here).

Meanwhile, Muhoozi recently hinted on standing for president in 2026 to replace his 78-year-old father Museveni. (See details Here).

The 2026 presidential race seems to be steadily taking shape, with Besigye girl Doreen Nyanjura announcing she will run for president if Muhoozi decides to be on the ballot in 2026. (Read Ugandans’ reactions to Nyanjura’s announcement Here).
