President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni and Paul Kagame have publicly expressed their disappointment with some tweets made by first son Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the commander of UPDF Land Forces, with Rwanda’s leader even offering to start editing content before the president’s son publishes it.
On April 24, President Museveni held a dinner in honor of his son at State House Entebbe. (See Photos from Muhoozi Birthday Dinner HERE).
In his remarks, Museveni talked about Muhoozi’s tweets.
Noting that his son tweets about the things he is passionate about, the president was surprised that something good had come out of the tweeting.
The president advised his son not to externalize his passion and to address the issues in the tweets.
“Finally, there is something positive about his tweets, because he tweets about his passion, on this and that. But the problem is that you should not externalize your passion,” said Museveni.
“Work on the issues of the tweets and the surroundings of the tweets.”
President Paul Kagame offered to edit Kainerugaba’s tweets.
“Gen Muhoozi, I want to offer a service to you. I want to start editing your Twitter account,” said Kagame.
Kainerugaba is a controversial tweeting general. He has tweeted about sensitive Russian, Ethiopian and regional security matters, giving his opinion, which sometimes contradicts official government position.
