Dr Fred Tanga Odoi, the chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), is expected to present before NRM Central Executive Committee (CEC), letters of expression of interest submitted by MPs seeking to replace late Speaker Jacob Oulanyah.
A total of 13 ruling party MPs have expressed interest in standing for speaker. (Read Story Here).
According to Dr Tanga Odoi, CEC will consider the names and recommend a few from which the parliamentary caucus of the ruling party will choose a flag bearer.
“The NRM Electoral Commission shall present names of interested candidates to the NRM Central Executive Committee which, upon consideration, shall recommend names for election to the NRM Parliamentary Caucus,” noted the ruling party’s EC boss.
“The NRM Electoral Commission shall conduct the election on Thursday 24th March, 2022.”
