A Ugandan gospel singer and local politician is under investigation over murder for ritual sacrifice. On March 19, Uganda Police Force (UPF) reported that its officers based in in Kitagwenda District had arrested Levi Amarakutunga over the murder of a four-year-old child in a suspected ritual sacrifice.
Levi Amarakutunga goes by the stage name DJ Levi Nyamagoya. His gospel songs are well known in Kitagwenda.
In the same district of Kitagwenda, Levi Amarakutunga aka DJ Levi Nyamagoya is a male councillor representing persons with disabilities.
Now, this councilor and musician faces allegations of murdering four-year-old Trinah Ainomugisha in Nyaruhanda Village in a suspected ritual sacrifice.
The child is said to have gone missing on March 16, 2025. She had been sent to their neighbor’s house. Sadly, her body was found lying lifeless in a bush the following morning.
A police canine led police to the home of Levi Amarakutunga aka DJ Levi Nyamagoya, who also owns Nyabihoko Parents Primary School.
“The police investigation involved the K-9 unit, which tracked a scent leading to Levi’s home, approximately 300 meters from the crime scene. A suspected [sic] panga with bloodstains was also recovered about 200 meters from the body,” police said.
“Further search at the suspect’s home yielded incriminating evidence, including a bucket filled with water containing clothes and blood and blood stains on the wall of one of the rooms.”
Levi Amarakutunga aka DJ Levi Nyamagoya and three of his workers were detained at Kitagwenda Central Police Station following their arrest.
Meanwhile, some locals, including men have claimed that Levi Amarakutunga aka DJ Levi Nyamagoya attempted to force himself on them in unnatural acts, warning them not to ever speak out against the same acts. Authorities are said to be investigating this line of allegations in line with provisions of Uganda’s anti-gay law.
The murder is just one of those recently reported in the country. This week, a student who had gone out to have fun was found dead, while a woman died mysteriously after taking drinks at a top Kampala bar. (See Details Here and There).
