Uganda Police is expected to spend Shs42bn on internet services next financial year (FY 2026-2027) which starts in July 2026. There is shock over police’s Shs42bn internet services budget, which is party of about Shs72.4bn the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development says Government of Uganda plans to spend on internet services over the 12 months of the coming financial year.

According to the second Budget Call Circular issued by Finance Ministry Permanent Secretary and Secretary to Treasury (PSST) Ramathan Ggoobi recently, police will spend the hugest chunk of the government’s internet services budget for the next financial year.

In the Second Budget Call Circular, PSST Ramathan Ggoobi also guided accounting officers of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDA) on priority areas in the coming national budget.

The judiciary is expected to spend about Shs3.2bn on internet services while the Ministry of Defence and Veterans Affairs will have nearly Shs 3.3bn to spend.

Ministry of Works and Transport is expected to spend nearly Shs2.3bn; National Information and Technology Authority (NITA) is expected to spend about the same amount as the works and transport ministry.

Tax collectors Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) is expected to spend a little over Shs900m on internet services.

Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development is expected to spend about Shs795m. The Directorate of Public Prosecution is expected to spend about Shs614m on internet services.

The Ministry of ICT and National Guidance is expected to spend Shs564m while the Office of the President is expected to consume nearly Shs413m on internet services. State House is expected to spend about Shs212m.
