Socialite Sheilah Gashumba has made it clear that she will not be referring to her stepmother Patience Mutoni Malaika as mum.
On May 15, Frank Gashumba, father to Sheilah Gashumba, was introduced by her lover Patience Mutoni Malaika.
Sheilah Gashumba was in attendance in Sembabule as Patience Mutoni Malaika introduced her Frank Gashumba, the Sisimuka Uganda boss and her father, to her parents.
She has congratulated both her father Frank and her stepmother, and wished them well in their marriage.
“Congratulations my father Mr Frank Gashumba on your engagement and Gusaba. You looked soo happy yesterday,” wrote Sheilah Gashumba.
“Wishing you the absolute best, happiness and love in your new journey with Malaika.”
Patience Mutoni Malaika is said to be slightly younger than Sheilah Gashumba, who is supposed to be her stepdaughter.
In most Ugandan cultures, Sheilah Gashumba would be expected to refer to her slightly younger stepmother Patience Mutoni Malaika as “mother” or “mum.”
But Sheilah Gashumba seems to have other ideas. She has chosen to refer to her as Malaika, her name which means ‘angel.’
When asked why she is not referring to her step mother, she explained that the only person she will refer to as ‘mum’ is her biological mother.
“Y’all play too much. Unfortunately I can’t, i will only call the woman who gave birth to me ‘mum’ so everyone must calm down,” wrote Sheilah Gashumba.
