Pamela Tumwebaze, the Dean of Students at Uganda Christian University (UCU), Mukono, was attacked by unknown assailants last night. She was rushed to hospital but succumbed to injuries sustained during the attack.
Tumwebaze was last seen addressing students on Tuesday during a community worship service held at Nkoyoyo Hall, where she was the keynote speaker. In her address, she spoke about building healthy relationships among students.
The university announced Pamela Tumwebaze’s death in an announcement on Wednesday, 11 February 2026.
“It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Ms. Pamela Tumwebaze, the Director of Student Affairs, and member of the Uganda Christian University Senior Management,” Uganda Christian University said.
“She went to be with the LORD in the early hours of Wednesday, February 11, 2026. Please uphold her children, immediate family and loved ones in prayer.”
“It is so sad that as UCU we have lost our dear Pamela, our Director for Student Affairs, also known as the Dean of Students. We are heartbroken. We need your prayers,” said UCU Deputy Vice-Chancellor in charge of Academic Affairs Rev Prof John Kitayimbwa.
“We pray that the Almighty God will comfort Maama, the siblings and her two beloved sons. Psalm 90:12: ‘Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.’”
Tumwebaze had a deep connection with UCU, having joined the university in 2000 as an undergraduate student.
Over the years, she worked both for UCU and other organizations, but her heart always led her back to her alma mater.
After completing her undergraduate course in 2003, she worked as a tutorial assistant in the Faculty of Education and later pursued a Master of Arts in Literature at UCU.
Tumwebaze’s dedication to UCU was unwavering, and she eventually returned to her beloved institution to serve as the Director of Students Affairs (DOSA. Prior to this, she had served in various roles, including teaching assistant, and administrative assistant.
Her passion for mentoring students and fostering a sense of community was evident in her work, and her untimely death has left a void in the UCU community.
The circumstances surrounding her murder are still unclear, and investigations are ongoing.
UCU community, students, staff, and alumni are mourning the loss of a dedicated educator and leader.
