SAD! Two UPDF Generals Perish in Masaka Road Accident

Uganda’s national army, the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), has confirmed the demise, in a road accident along Masaka Road, of two officers at the rank of brigadier general. The two, Brig Gen Fred Twinamatsiko and Brig Gen Kyambadde, a retired officer, were travelling in a vehicle registration number H4DF2588. At the time of his death, Brig Gen Twinamatsiko was the Director of Training and Doctrine for Land Forces in the UPDF. Deputy UPDF spokesperson Deo Akiiki described the demise of the two generals as emblematic of “a difficult moment.” “How are we expected to understand this loss in such a short time? A minister of state (Defence)  Hon Sarah Mateke, Brig Gen (rtd) Kyambadde and our Director training and Doctrine for Land forces Brig Gen Fred Twinamasiko in accident!” wrote Akiiki. “All gone just like that. May the Lord strengthen their families. It is a difficult moment.” The demise of the two generals happened about a week after the death of junior minister for defence, Sarah Mateke Nyirabashitsi.
