A Makerere University student has been killed in an accident as she returned to campus after months on holiday.
Talent Arishaba was a student at the College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology (CEDAT) at Makerere University.
She was a second year student of valuation at CEDAT.
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of our own Arishaba Talent, a Year 2 Valuation student at the College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology (CEDAT), who tragically passed away in a road accident on her way to Makerere University campus [on February 07, 2026]. May her soul rest in peace,” CEDAT said in a short statement announcing Talent Arishaba’s death.

The Makerere University Association of Surveying Students said: “We are deeply saddened by the loss of our own Arishaba Talent, a beloved member of the Mass community, who tragically passed away in a road accident on her way to campus today. Our prayers are with her family and friends. May her soul rest in peace.”
Born in 2004, Talent Arishaba was just 22 years old.
The late Talent Arishaba will be laid to rest in Kimwani, Rwashamaire Ntungamo on Monday, February 09, 2026.
It should be remembered that while Makerere University students were expected to report back for semester two last month, the Ministry of Education and Sports — and later, the university — revised the reporting date, as reported Here.
Last year, students died in an accident after the bus driver slept on the steering wheel, as reported Here.
