It was a sad Easter on Mubende-Fort Portal Road after scores of people died and others sustained serious injuries in a PokoPoko bus accident in Mubende.
The accident happened in the evening of Easter Sunday, April 20, 2025.
Eye witnesses say the accident happened after the driver of the PokoPoko bus registration number UBR 796N lost control of the vehicle after one of its front tyres burst.
After the driver lost control of the bus, it veered off the road and overturned, killing scores of people on the spot.
Some reports put the number of the dead at about 10.
Those who sustained injuries were rushed to Mubende Regional Referral Hospital.

02 people have been confirmed dead in a single fatal crash involving an Isuzu bus, registration number UBR 796N, belonging to Pokopoko Company.
The incident occurred yesterday, April 20, 2025, at approximately 2:20 PM on the Mubende-Kyegegwa highway at Biwanga. Preliminary reports indicate that the driver lost control of the vehicle following a tyre burst, causing the bus to veer off the road & overturn. The incident claimed the lives of 02 passengers (01 adult female & 01 juvenile female).
Additionally, 12 others sustained injuries & were rushed to Mubende regional referral hospital for treatment. We urge motorists to prioritize vehicle safety before embarking on their journeys. Regularly checking tyre condition & ensuring that they are within the recommended expiry dates can significantly enhance safety on the roads.
