Another tragedy has hit UCU as a student drowned in swimming pool, a day after dean of students (director of student affairs) Pamela Tumwebaze was killed following an attack at her home. Edgar Muhoozi Tumwebaze was a student at the Faculty of Engineering at Uganda Christian University (UCU). Edgar Muhoozi was in his first year.
According to UCU Class Representatives Association, Edgar Muhoozi Tumwebaze drowned as he was swimming.
Although Edgar Muhoozi Tumwebaze was rushed to the C-Care Hospital, he did not make it.
“It is with deep sorrow to announce the passing of Muhoozi Edgar Tumwebaze, a student in the Faculty of Civil Engineering,” the UCU Class Representative Association announced.
“He tragically drowned while swimming and was rushed to C-Care Hospital, but sadly could not be saved. Further details to follow.”
Edgar Muhoozi Tumwebaze was associated with the Ntare League where he was known as Kante. He played for Akachai FC.
“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Edgar Muhoozi, a bright talent and a brother from our youngest team and cohort Akachai FC,” Ntare Lions League wrote.
“The Ntare Lions League family stands in solidarity with his family, teammates, and friends during this incredibly difficult time. Rest well, Edgar. You will be missed.”
The Ntare School Old Boys Association (NSOBA) wrote: “A really sad day at the den. From 2018 to 2024 you wore the pride of a Lion. Forever part of us. Gone too soon. Rest in peace, Lion. You will be deeply missed Edgar.”
“We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Edgar Muhoozi, a first-year engineering student, who drowned in a swimming pool on Feb 12, 2026,” said the UCU Department of Engineering and Environment.
“We extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and university community in this time of profound grief.”
