Rwandan President Paul Kagame has announced new appointments in key government positions. The September 30, 2024 appointments were contained in a statement from the Office of the Prime Minister.
Several departments of government have been affected. In the changes, Kagame appointed Irene Murerwa the new Chief Tourism Officer of the Rwanda Development Board (RDB), taking over from Michaella Rugwizangoga.
Kagame also appointed Jules Ndenga as the Chief Executive Officer of Aviation Tourism Logistics (ATL), after serving in the same position in acting capacity for some time.
Also on the list of appointments is Eva Nishimwe who is the new Deputy Managing Director of the Rwanda Airports Company.
The president also appointed Brave Ngabo the Executive Secretary of the National Youth Council. Also appointed was Marie Mediatrice Umubyeyi who is now the Executive Secretary of the National Women’s Council.
In other changes, Kagame appointed Frank Gatera as the new Permanent Secretary in the Office of the President.
He also picked Michelle Byusa to become the Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Prime Minister.
Byusa will replace Yvonne Umulisa, whose previous roles included Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Public Investments and Privatization, as well as Economic and Finance Policy Analyst in the Senate. Umulisa will now serve as clerk to the Senate.
The president has also chosen Isabelle Mugwaneza to become the Strategic Advisor at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
