A top Museveni State official has revealed what will happen to billions of stolen money and Rolls Royce recovered from Anita Among.
For days now, a joint team of security operatives have mounted coordinated raids on properties linked to Anita Among, marking one of the most high-profile anti-corruption operations in recent years.

The searches were conducted by a combination of police, military personnel and state investigators, acting on allegations tied to illicit enrichment and abuse of office.
The first major operation targeted Among’s residence in Nakasero, an upscale suburb of Kampala, where heavily armed officers sealed off access points and conducted a prolonged search that lasted several hours.
Security personnel reportedly movement in and out of the premises as investigators combed through documents, electronic devices and other materials believed to be relevant to the inquiry.
Simultaneously, another team was dispatched to Among’s mansion in Kigo, where similar search procedures were undertaken. Reports indicate that officers conducted a detailed inspection of the lakeside property, focusing on assets and records suspected to be linked to the ongoing corruption probe.
During the raids, investigators reportedly seized a range of high-value items believed to be part of the evidence trail. These included luxury household assets, financial records and digital storage devices.
Authorities were particularly interested in tracing the acquisition of expensive properties and movable assets linked to the former Speaker.
Security operatives are also said to have catalogued several vehicles found at the premises, some of which were reportedly taken away for further examination. The confiscation exercise, according to the reports, was aimed at establishing ownership patterns and possible links to public funds or unexplained wealth accumulation.
These included a Rolls Royce estimated to have cost Shs3.5bn, including taxes.
In addition to physical assets, investigators reportedly collected documentation related to business dealings, bank transactions and contracts. The search teams are said to have focused on paperwork that could reveal financial flows, procurement processes or links to government expenditure, which are central to the corruption allegations under investigation.
The raids were conducted under tight security, with armed personnel maintaining a visible presence throughout the operations. Witnesses described a tense atmosphere as officers moved systematically through the properties, indicating the seriousness and scale of the investigation targeting one of Uganda’s most powerful political figures.
Authorities have not publicly disclosed the full inventory of items seized, but reports indicated that the operation forms part of a broader inquiry that could lead to further actions, including possible arrests or additional asset recoveries. The developments have drawn significant public attention, given Among’s political stature and previous international sanctions linked to corruption allegations.
Meanwhile, at the Parliament of Uganda, investigators extended their operation to Among’s office, which was searched and reportedly sealed off as a crime scene. Officers combed through files, computers and official records, in what sources described as an effort to establish whether parliamentary resources or offices were used in connection with the alleged misconduct.
As we have reported, billions of Uganda Shillings and millions of dollars as well as suspected witchcraft items were found in Anita Among’s homes, as reported Here and There.
MONEY TO BE RETURNED TO TREASURY
According to first son and military chief Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the billions of money recovered in all investigations into corruption as part of Operation Maliza Ufisadi will be returned to the treasury.
Gen Muhoozi urged suspected corrupt officials to cooperate with investigators or be arrested.
“Operation Maliza Ufisadi’ has just begun, already we have retrieved quite a lot of the people’s money and property. Everything will be returned to the Treasury. I will give a partial report soon,” he wrote on Tuesday, May 19, 2026.
“I advise all government officials to co-operate fully with the security services…in order to avoid arrest.”
Muhoozi also revealed that President Museveni has given orders for the arrest of anyone suspected of corruption – save for the head of state and his wife Janet Museveni.
We also understand that the Rolls Royce that Anita Among ‘owned’ will be auctioned.
Meanwhile, Museveni and Muhoozi have ‘forgiven’ Thomas Tayebwa and endorsed him to retain his job, a day after Anita Among was forced to withdraw from the speaker race in favour of Jacob Oboth Oboth. (See Details Here, There, and Over There).
Relatedly, Norbert Mao has refused to withdraw from the race in favour of Jacob Oboth Oboth despite being promised a ‘big job’ if he pulled out. (See Details Here and There).
