Justine Nakajumba, mother to Kawempe North MP Muhammad Ssegirinya, has for a second time stormed Parliament demanding the release of her son.
Ssegirinya and his Makindye West counterpart Allan Ssewanyana have been on remand since September 2021.
They face charges of murder and terrorism.
Nakajumba previously stormed Parliament over the same issue. Then, she had sought to meet Speaker Jacob Oulanyah but she was unsuccessful.
This morning she returned to Parliament accompanied by the legislator’s wife.
At the entrance of Parliament, she met DP president general Norbert Mao whom she begged to help her push for the release of her son, the person she says has been taking care of her.
She was later led out of parliament’s premises.
Parliament spokesperson Chris Obore said Nakajumba should push for a speedy trial of her son son instead of protesting at Parliament.
“We cannot block any citizen from accessing Parliament. However, people are misguiding her to come here instead of going to the courts of law,” said Obore.
“This matter is beyond Parliament, we also pray and ask that our members get a speedy trial.”
Meanwhile, Ssegirinya and Ssewanyana have further been remanded until March 10.
State prosecution said investigations into their case were not yet complete.
