Tooro princess Ruth Cox Nyakairu Kugonza Amooti has died of Covid19, barely a month since she wedded Larry Richard Abaala.
Princess Kugonza’s cousin Andrew M Mwenda announced her death. Mwenda told his followers Covid19 had devastated his family, urging all and sundry to take the viral respiratory disease seriously.
“On Sunday, we lost a cousin, Margaret, to Covid19. This morning we have just lost yet another cousin, Cox, to Covid. Covid is real and it is lethal. Avoid large social gatherings, socially distance and wear your mask at all times in public and sanitize all the time!” wrote Mwenda.
In October, the princess, in her sixties, wedded Abaala, 25, at Harukoto near the Kingdom palace in Fort Portal City, Kabarole District.
She had divorced John Kabango, the Kabarole District principal commercial officer, with whom she had four children.
Princess Kugonza becomes Mwenda’s third relative to succumb to Covid19 in three weeks.
These include: Margaret Kanyiginya, daughter to Beatrice Nyakana Abwooli, a Canadian trained teacher and former principal of kinyamasika TTC; and lawyer Chris Ibaale, a son to Mwenda’s eldest sister Olive K Muhanga.
