Rajiv Ruparelia, son to tycoon, Sudhir Ruparelia, was killed in an accident on May 03, 2025.
Rajiv Ruparelia death was confirmed by SP Michael Kananura, the Public Relations Officer Directorate of Traffic and Road Safety.
SP Kananura said the accident was recorded around 01:54am at the at the Busabala Flyover traffic lights.
Rajiv Ruparelia was travelling from Kajjansi and heading to Munyonyo in a Nissan GTR, registration number UAT 638L when the accident happened.
Kananura said that traffic police suspect that Rajiv Ruparelia lost control of the vehicle after it hit pavements.
The vehicle would then overturn and catch fire. Rajiv Ruparelia died on the spot, according to SP Kananura.
“The Police at Kajansi has registered a single fatal crash that occurred in the early hours of Saturday, May 3, 2025, at approximately 01:54 AM at the Busabala Flyover traffic lights, located in Makindye-Ssabagabo, Wakiso District,” said Kananura.
“The crash involved a Nissan GTR motor vehicle registration number UAT 638L, which was travelling from Kajjansi towards Munyonyo.
“Preliminary investigations indicate that the driver lost control of the vehicle after colliding with temporary pavements installed at the roundabout section of the flyover. The vehicle subsequently overturned and caught fire, leading to the instant death of the driver, identified as Mr. Rajiv Ruparelia.”
SP Kananura added that “the exact cause of the crash has not yet been determined” and that “investigations are underway.”
