Main opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) leader Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine has urged Ugandans to protest against President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and his son Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba after security operatives, including Special Forces Command (SFC), blocked the ‘We are Eddie Mutwe Solidarity Gathering.’
The gathering was scheduled at NUP headquarters at Makerere Kavule on May 02, 2025.
Eddie Mutwe, a bodyguard to Bobi Wine, was abducted days ago. Other Bobi Wine bodyguards such as Achilleo Kivumbi are also in detention and face changes sanctioned by the state.
“Eddie represents more than himself. He represents all of us who dare to dream of a just and free country. As painful as these times are, we must not despair,” said Bobi Wine ahead of the planned ‘We are Eddie Mutwe Solidarity Gathering.’
“All Ugandans of good conscience must come together and coalesce around the values that bring us together as a people. We must renew our commitment to fight on until Uganda is free.
“This is a non-partisan opportunity to unite. Friends of Eddie and other Ugandans of good conscience, let us come together in solidarity not just with Eddie but all political prisoners!”
But ahead of the meeting, security operatives cordoned off NUP headquarters at Makerere Kavule in the Ugandan capital Kampala.
This prompted Bobi Wine to urge Ugandans to reject Museveni and Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) and senior presidential advisor on special operations for his father Museveni.
“Ugandans at home and abroad must rise up and protest against Museveni and his brutal son!” wrote Bobi Wine.
It should be remembered that on May 01 2025, Gen Muhoozi confirmed that Eddie Mutwe was in his basement learning Runyankore, and asked Bobi Wine ‘what will you do about it?’ (See Details Here).
You can read the latest opinion on Muhoozi’s Statements and why anger against Banyankore is unfortunate in light of Eddie Mutwe being forced to learn Runyankore HERE.
