Seven months before Joe Biden picked Kamala Harris as his running mate for the 2020 US presidential election, Uganda’s most prominent and respected prophet Elvis Mbonye delivered a prophecy of a ‘feminine presence’ in the Democratic Party. Prophet Elvis Mbonye also talked of “good news for Trump.”
On January 07, 2020, Prophet Elvis Mbonye told his congregation that he had seen the rise of a ‘feminine presence’ in the US Democratic Party.
“I felt something that was strange. It was as if there was a feminine presence that was almost like the main influence over that party [of the Democrats],” said Mbonye.
He was quick to add, “And that feminine presence wasn’t Hilary Clinton.”
Four years earlier, former secretary of state and ex-first lady Hilary Clinton had lost to Donald Trump in one of the most surreal US elections: an outsider beat a seasoned politician, defying polls and preventing former president Bill Clinton’s wife from becoming her country’s first female president.
He also told his congregation that despite the “feminine presence,” Donald Trump would still smile.
“I saw that and yet I know there is good news for Trump,” added Prophet Elvis Mbonye.
Months later, Donald Trump lost the US presidency to Joe Biden and Kamala Harris became the first female vice president in the country’s history.
While this sounded the rise of Kamala Harris – and a failure of the ‘good news for Trump’ aspect of the prophecy – there was yet more to come for both Republicans and Democrats. And it took nearly five years.
As the 2024 presidential race shaped up, the Democratic Convention chose Joe Biden as the party’s candidate.
But after his dismal performance in a televised debate against Donald Trump, the Democrats pressured the 81-year-old incumbent to quit the race. He did so in July 2024, a little over 100 days to the presidential election.
Joe Biden announced he was dropping out of the race and that he would fully support Kamala Harris, his vice president.
It became the second time the Democrats were fronting a woman to run for president in a decade. Again, Kamala Harris did not only become of consequential influence in the Democratic Party but would, like Hilary Clinton in 2016, face Donald Trump.
And, while Donald Trump’s supporters in Prophet Elvis Mbonye’s congregation were disappointed in the 2020 poll, they would celebrate in 2024 as Trump won the presidency in a landslide, polling 312 electoral votes against Kamala Harris’ 226.
Republicans also won the Senate and the House, completing the GOP political comeback. The good news for Trump prophecy delivered in 2020 came to pass in 2024.
